Announcing a new movie production company, Land of the Sky Films. Like its sister company, Land of the Sky Books, the new film company specializes in stories of the Southern Mountains - those set in the mountainous regions of Western North Carolina, Northern Georgia, Northwestern South Carolina, Northeastern Alabama, and Eastern Tennessee. We will be announcing feature film and documentary projects shortly.

Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands

The Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands is presented twice yearly in Asheville, North Carolina. It is one of the premiere craft fairs in the United States and the sponsoring organization, the Southern Highland Craft Guild has been since the 1930s one of the most respected craft guilds in the county. Find out more about the Southern Highland Craft Guild at http://www.southernhighlandguild.org/ . This is a one-hour show filmed in 2007. This video is being streamed (rather than the more common progressive download) from one of my own servers. A neat feature of streaming video is the ability to jump around in it by simply clicking on the timeline bar directly below the video. Community Service Award

Our appreciation to the Stephens-Lee High School Alumni and Hall of Fame Committee, Asheville, North Carolina. Saturday night, July 5 2008, they awarded us a Community Service award and plaque for our part in "The Mighty Heroes of Stephens-Lee High School" -- the documentary film we directed and edited this year. We also filmed this event.

30p video test

In looking for the best quality way to shoot video for the Internet (as opposed to broadcast television as I usually create) I set one of our HD cameras (a Sony V1U) on 30 frames per second progressive -- 30p -- as opposed to the standard 60i we normally shoot in. The results were quite pleasing (click on READ MORE to see them, you will need to make sure your Adobe Flash is up to date).
